Responsibilities
The Community Development Department (CDD) is responsible for improving the quality of life, welfare, and economic opportunities by providing advanced planning, development review, compliance with building and zoning codes, permitting, inspection services, code enforcement, achieving economic development goals, advancing the City's General Plan and other citywide initiatives, and administration of programs related to affordable housing. CDD works to balance the needs of residents, businesses, property owners, and provides technical and policy support to the City Manager and other City Departments.

ALERT ! NOTICE OF SERVICE CLOSURES
August Closures:
The Permit Center will be closed on Thursday, August 28, 2025 between 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.. The Permit Center will resume normal operations on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 1:15 p.m.
September Closures:
In Observance of Labor Day, City Hall will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025. City Hall, including the Permit Center, will resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
November Closures:
In Observance of Veteran's Day, City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. City Hall, including the Permit Center, will resume normal operations on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
In Observance of Thanksgiving, City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, 2025. City Hall, including the Permit Center, will resume normal operations on Monday, December 1, 2025.
