Backyard Composting
Cupertino residents can attend any composting workshop offered by UC Cooperative Extension Composting Program. You can view a list of upcoming workshops at:
Learn how to build compost piles, vermicompost, and apply the compost in your own garden or landscape. Attended one of the free 2-hour composting workshops taught by UCCE's Composting Program, and then Cupertino residents can request a free bin to get started.
1. Register to Save Your Seat
Please register in advance at UCCE Composting Education Program registration, or by calling 408.918.4640.

Residents can attend any of the classes listed on the UCCE Composting education page; it does not have to be in Cupertino. See the full schedule for workshops throughout the rest of the County at the UCCE Composting Education Program.
3. Request a Compost Bin
Cupertino residents who attend a compost class are eligible to receive a compost bin.
- Only one free bin per household.
- Residents can receive a worm bin or a backyard compost bin (82 gallons).
- Compost bins are delivered by Recology. Usually within one week of confirming class attendance.
