Law Enforcement Contract Negotiations
The City of Cupertino is negotiating with Santa Clara County regarding the cost and structure of law enforcement services provided to Cupertino by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. While Saratoga has recently renewed its contract with the County, Cupertino and Los Altos Hills continue to work toward agreements that address the significant proposed increases in the cost of service.
Cupertino, along with other contract cities, commissioned an independent, third-party assessment to review the methodology used by the County to allocate law enforcement costs among contract cities. The assessment is intended to provide an independent review of the cost allocation methodology and related contract provisions. The final report and presentation are finalized and available below, providing the community with additional information about the methodology and the issues being considered in these negotiations.
Cupertino remains committed to maintaining existing law enforcement service levels while pursuing an agreement that provides high-quality services at a fair and sustainable cost to the community. The City will continue to provide updates and keep residents informed as negotiations with the County move forward.
