Bike Fest

FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES:

• Safety:
• • Helmet Checks: Walk Bike Cupertino will be conducting helmet checks to ensure they are properly worn
  • Bike Safety Checks: Community Cycles of California will perform an ABC quick check on your bike, ensuring your tires, brakes, and chain are in working order
  • Bike Rodeo: Practice traffic safety and bike handling skills in Safe Moves' mini city and obstacle course
  • Plan your route:  Get Suggested Routes to School Maps and Safe Drop Off Tips to your Cupertino school at the Safe Routes to School booth

• Bike Rides - Put your tuned up equipment and skills to use by joining a chaperoned bike ride:
• • Little Loop
  • • 200 yard cycle track for tricycles, scoot bikes, and bikes with training wheels
    • Located behind the arch on Town Center Lane
    • Open for the entire festival
  • 2.5 mile Scavenger Hunt bike ride
  • • 2.5 mile ride to Wilson Park and back with a scavenger hunt at the park
    • An adult is required to accompany and stay with children on the bike rides, ride chaperones cannot supervise unattended children
    • Bikes with training wheels will not be permitted on the bike rides. They CAN go through Safe Moves City bike rodeo and the Little Loop
  • 7.5 mile Tour de Cupertino bike ride
  • • 7.5 mile ride to explore some of Cupertino’s new bike lanes
    • For all ages as long as you can comfortably ride 10 miles in an hour

• Fun and Games:
• •  Join the Black Mountain Composite High School Mountain Bike Team for some fun on-bike activities before the bike rides
  • Play a game of cornhole with Trailhead Cyclery
    
  • See if you can light up a whole panel of LED lights by pedaling fastest in Rock the Bike's sLEDgehammer contest

• Arts and Crafts:  
• • Make colorful spin art by pedaling a bike with Rock the Bike
  • Get your face painted
  • Decorate your helmet with Tino Eco
  • Create eco-jewelry for you and your bike with Eco Valley

• Food:
• • Make a smoothie on a pedal-powered blender bike
  • Medina’s Catering will be selling breakfast burritos and tacos so you can fuel up for your ride
  • Coffee Society will be selling coffee, boba, waffles, lunch, snacks, and more

• So Much More!
• • Stop by the Cupertino Library's reading corner for some bike-themed books and resources
  • Try out some cargo bikes with Mike's Bikes
  • Test fit your bike on an SV Hopper car 

Bike Fest is free to the public and does not require tickets or registration. However, a signed waiver is required to participate in any on-bike activities. We highly suggest that you download and sign your participation waiver(PDF, 294KB) ahead of time to speed up the registration process (bring it along with you on the 26th). You can also sign up for our Safe Routes to School E-Notifications in the box at the right so we can send you Bike Fest reminders!

Bike Fest could not happen without all our wonderful volunteers!  High school students help make this event awesome and it’s a fun way to earn volunteer hours. Roles include set-up, break-down, photographer, data entry, registration table, and managing activities such as face painting, upcycled “bike parts” jewelry, blender bike smoothies, bike decorating, and more. Students can choose the role that suits them best at the link below. Sign-ups are due by Sunday, September 20.

Bike Fest is held at Cupertino Civic Plaza on Torre Avenue

If you can, bike to Bike Fest!

If you need to drive, be aware that parking at City Hall and the Library will be limited and Torre Avenue will be closed between Rodrigues Avenue and the Library.  Follow the signs to the Event Parking lot at the Prometheus Apartments on Torre Avenue between Rodrigues Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard.
