The City of Cupertino invites you to review and provide feedback on the Draft Health and Safety Element, now available for public review!
What is the Health and Safety Element?
The Health and Safety Element is a required part of Cupertino's General Plan. It identifies natural hazards and establishes policies to protect people and property from earthquakes, flooding, wildfires, extreme heat, and other climate-related risks. This updated document reflects the best available science about hazards we face and incorporates strategies to build a more resilient community.
What's in the Health and Safety Element?
The Draft Health and Safety Element includes comprehensive information about natural hazards affecting Cupertino, an assessment of the community’s vulnerabilities to climate change impacts, and detailed policies and implementation actions to reduce risks and improve community resilience. Key topics include emergency preparedness and response, fire hazards, seismic and geologic hazards, flood and inundation hazards, climate change resilience, and hazardous materials.
