The City of Cupertino celebrated LGBTQ+ Pride Month with our annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on Wednesday, June 10. Mayor Kitty Moore opened the ceremony, and the event featured a moving performance by the Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus and remarks from members of City Council, who shared personal reflections on the importance of supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Special guest Naomi Castejon Wong—a dedicated community advocate who has been involved in activism focusing on transgender rights and the fair treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals, and was a finalist in Miss International Queen 2024 and will compete in Miss California USA 2026 as Miss Cupertino this July with the goal of becoming the first transgender woman to earn the title—spoke at the event to share her personal journey and her advocacy work.
Thank you to all the elected officials, performers, resource partners, and community members who joined us to celebrate. The Intersex Progress Pride Flag will fly outside City Hall for the remainder of June in honor of LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
Special thanks to our resource tabling partners: Cupertino Library, Santa Clara County Office of LGBTQ Affairs, Q Corner Program of Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services, Bill Wilson Center, Avenidas Rainbow Collective, and Silicon Valley Pride.
