  Information for the 2026 Spelling Bee will be available in November 2025.

The Cupertino Spelling Bee is an annual spelling contest for Cupertino residents, organized by the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department and the Cupertino Youth Activity Board. The purpose of this community event is to give students an educationally enriching opportunity. Please note that our spelling bee is not affiliated with the National Scripps Spelling Bee and we cannot sponsor or send winners to the National Spelling Bee.

2025 Event Recap

On Saturday, January 18, the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department and the Cupertino Youth Activity Board hosted the City's Annual Spelling Bee—and what an event it was!

 

Thirty-five talented second- to fifth-grade students showed their impressive spelling skills in this exciting competition. A huge congratulations to our outstanding winners:

 

2nd/3rd Grade Category:

Winner: Saisha Jhanb with the word "Capitalize"

Runner-up: Vihaan Dora

 

4th/5th Grade Category:

Winner: Valentina Chen with the word "Individualize"

Runner-up: Nandini Nagarajan

 

The competition was exciting, with Saisha claiming victory after 18 thrilling rounds and Valentina triumphing after 13 rounds.
