Spring 2026 

Thank you to everyone who joined Cupertino Parks and Recreation for this year's Big Bunny 5K and Kids Fun Run. We were thrilled to welcome more than 650 runners who laced up their shoes and hit the course. Whether you ran, walked, cheered, or volunteered, your participation made this event special!

The 2026 Big Bunny 5K will take place in spring, event information will be available in November 2025.

5K Race

Run, walk, or hop your way along the 5K (3.1 mile) course which starts and ends on Torre Avenue in front of Cupertino City Hall. Don’t be late! The race starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. Top 3 finishers in each age group receive a special top finisher medal.

5K Race Age divisions: 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.

Kids Fun Run

For children 7 and under, the Big Bunny 5k and Kids Fun Run offer a special kids course which goes around Library Field. The race begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. All participants receive a shirt and finisher medal upon registration. The Kids Fun Run is a non-timed event where everyone's a winner!

The course is structured as follows:

• Ages 4 and under: One lap (parents may accompany if desired)

• Ages 5 to 7: Two laps

Spectators are welcome to cheer on our youngest runners from the sidelines!

Note: Shirts and Bibs will also be available on TBD.  We strongly recommend Friday night pick up if you want to be sure to get your shirt and bib before the race starts at 8:30 a.m. We will not hold the race.

Registration

How do I register for the Big Bunny 5K and kids fun Run?
Register online at reg4rec.org. It's quick and easy. Race registration is first-come, first-served. It’s possible we might sell out before registration closes, so register today!

What if I have a problem with my registration?
Contact the City of Cupertino Parks and Recreation office by phone at (408) 777-3120 or by email at recreation@cupertino.org

What is your refund policy?
You can request a refund up to 8 calendar days before the start of the Big Bunny 5K. No refunds will be issued within 8 days of the event.

5k Race

Do I need to wear my race bib?
Yes, the timing chip is attached to your bib and must be worn for your time to count.

Can I walk the 5K?
Yes, you can run, walk, stroll, or hop. Set your own pace, it's all up to you.

Can I run with my stroller?
Yes, please line up at the end of the starting queue next to the “Runner’s with Strollers” sign.

Is there a finisher’s medal?
Yes, all participants will receive a finisher medal. Also, the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age categories will receive a special award medal. 5K Race Age Divisions: 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.

Will there be medical help on the race course and at the finish line?
CERT will be on hand to handle any medical issues that arise during the race.

Kids Fun Run

Where and when does the Kids Fun Run start?
The Kids Fun Run starts on Library Field at 9:30 a.m.

Can I run with my kids?
Yes, if your little hoppers need some extra help and encouragement, grown-ups may run with their kids.

Will there be supervision for my kids while I am participating in the 5K Run?
No, parents participating in the 5K race will need to arrange supervision for their kids. Also, any kid participating in the Kids Fun Run may join their families on the 5K course.

I am participating in the 5K, can my kids come with me?
Yes, any registered kids in either the fun run or the 5K may join their families on the 5K course.

Race Day 

Where can I park?
Free parking is available at the Cupertino City Center Garage (10201 Torre Ave). Parking is not allowed on Torre Avenue between Pacifica Drive and Rodrigues Avenue or at the Cupertino Office Complex buildings. Vehicles parked in these areas will be ticketed. We encourage our residents to walk to the Cupertino Civic Center to afford those coming from out of town an easier time finding parking.

What if it rains?
The Big Bunny 5K will take place rain or shine.
