The City Attorney’s Office provides all legal services that are needed to support the City Council, City Commissions and Committees, City Manager, department directors, and City staff.

The City of Cupertino’s Public Safety Programs are led by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department, ensuring community safety through law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical services. The Cupertino Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for coordinating disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in the city.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, West Valley Division, provides law enforcement services to Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, Moffett, and unincorporated western Santa Clara County. They also contract with the Santa Clara County Superior Court, Valley Transportation Authority, and County Parks Department. The Sheriff's Office has 1,429 sworn personnel across various divisions.
